New trick

Solomon has a new trick. He was doing this before a little bit, but now he does it all the time, like when I'm on the phone with colleagues. They probably think I'm passing gas!

Today was beautiful in Wichita. It was in the 70s, so I took Solomon for a long walk in the stroller. Of course, he took advantage of the time to take a nap.

Also, I posted some new photos at: http://www.haverhillstudios.com/gallery/albun05.

Ready for bed

I'm ready to go to bed. I think even just changing the clocks on hour has totally made me extra sleepy. This morning, I wanted to sleep so badly. Solomon actually woke up for a while last night. He hasn't done that in a little while. He seemed really congested. A lot of people have told me that, that goes with teething and he is DEFINITELY teething. He produces bucket loads of drool every hour and is cranky from time to time.

Friday was Alex's b-day. We didn't do anything big. My aunt and uncle, parents, and Kandi and Jimmy and Zoe came over and had pizza with us. My parents and I went in together for a gift. We bought him guitar hero and Rock Band. My friend Erin simply HAS to come over and enjoy the singing portion of RockBand with me. I think she would love it. It's made for her. Alex and I formed a "band" online so we can play against others. It is called "Coffee with Cream"! :) Unfortunately, there must be another whitey with a brown guy or gal out there b/c the name was already taken... It's our "local band" name, but we can't use it when we play others, so let me know if you have an idea for another band name. Alex is loving the guitar thing. I suck at it but am dedicated to learning.

Saturday we went to see the new Will Ferrell flick, "Semi-Pro". It's not his best ever, but still funny of course. I never tire of laughing at how Ferrell doesn't mind at all when people get a laugh out of him showing of his not so great body. It's just funny stuff. The b-ball players practicing in costume is my other favorite part.

That night, Shane and Alex went to an arena football game and a promotion party that Shane's job had at a local club. Sara came over with their daughter, Claire, and we hung out and had some pizza and wine. It was fun.

Sunday, we took it easy but did go to my parents' house at night to soak in their hot tub and have some dinner. Alex and tried to watch a DVD of "The Kingdom" but could not stay awake, so we went to bed after about 30 min. of the movie.

We are going out of town this weekend for Alex's high school theatre reunion. It should be interesting. So many funny stereotypes come to mind when I think of High School theatre. I can talk since I was also involved in theatre. Ha ha!! :)

Better go to bed. I hope everyone has a great week.

Day 2

Tomorrow is day #2 of me having Solomon at home while I am working. Day #1 was Monday. It was challenging at times, but doable. I still got A LOT done and I anticipate getting more done when I figure out exactly what I'm doing with work. Right now, it just takes me so long to find where documents I need have been saved.
We just watched one of our favorite shows on TV, "Intervention". It's a good one, but very emotional. I'm always amazed at the lengths people will go to get drugs or alcohol and the amount of them they do or drink. It's hard to believe.
I made a real dinner tonight, oven fried chicken with pasta and broccoli... crazy. It was pretty good.
Solomon is so funny. He's going through this stage where I just have to look at him and he'll start to giggle. It usually means he's going to want to eat soon too. I think the correlation is that he knows I'm the source of his food so he's trying to make nice with me. I think he's just days from crawling. It scares me b/c then I'm going to have to watch him constantly.
I'm sleepy and ready for bed. I hope everyone has had a good day.

Sleepy weekend morning

My little monkey, Solomon, is asleep next to me on the couch right now as I catch up on work and Days Of Our Lives. Grandpa Shawn's funeral on Days. I have to admit it's a little sad. I mean, I've grown up watching this guy on TV. I looked it up online and I was about eight years old when he came on Days. Yes, I did watch Days back then... 25 years ago. I love all of the crazy stuff that always surrounds a funeral on Days too.. like the old characters that will come in, Kim Brady. She's had some work done for sure! Bo had to mention that Shawn wasn't his biological father... of course making reference to the affair his mom had with Victor back in the day... My favorite was the old footage of Bo with the full on 80's mullet going on! Fantastic stuff.
They also always make a giant framed photo of whoever is dead and put it at the front of the church. then, to top it off, Chloe is singing a little song for all of them. I just found out online that young Sean is leaving the show along with boring Belle. Thank God! I also find it strange that, but then again, not so strange (b/c it's Days) how so many important family members aren't at the funeral b/c they are no longer on the show of course. They always bring up that they "couldn't find a flight on time" or something else that doesn't really make sense.

I'm going to a baby shower this afternoon for mom's co-worker, Brenda. She's having a little girl in April, due on Zoe's b-day. I think we'll go workout soon if I can get Alex out of bed.

My trip to Dallas was good. I learned a lot, but obviously have a lot left to learn. Everyone seems really nice and I ate way too much between dinner the first night and lunch thenext morning. I'm sure I'll be going down again soon to Dallas.

Zzzzzzzzss

Okay, Alex is "catching some Zzzzzs" as they say, as I type. We watched the KU game tonight. It was pretty uneventful, but good. Then, I gave Solomon a bath and put him to bed and packed for my trip tomorrow.
The other 'z' tonight is that I kept saying the word, 'Zipper', but more like, zzzzzzzzzzzzipur, and Solomon would laugh. He was staring at the zipper on my sweatshirt so I told him what it was and he was obviously intrigued.
Yesterday, I forgot to write about the tantrum I had last night. Alex got home late from work and I had been waiting to make dinner until he got home. We all know that I become a "not so nice" person when I'm hungry. Others who have this problem understand. Those who do not have a sudden drop in blood sugar will never understand the insanity that comes over one when they are SOOO hungry like that. Anyway, I had made salmon and this Asian salad that I really like. I finally got it all ready and all the way downstairs when I got sort of tangled up in our stupid TV trays that are seriously a death trap... (so many friends and family have spilled something as a result of them) and I dropped the salmon and salad all over the floor. I was so completely annoyed and started cussing and was almost in tears at the mess. Alex tried to joke, but I wouldn't have it. I ended up serving myself more of the salad and eating the tiny piece of salmon that didn't touch the ground and therefore wouldn't have dog hair or some other random particle on it.  Grrrr....
I'm going to go to bed soon to of course catch some Zzzzzs.  Good night..

Tired Tuesday

I'm beat for some reason. Even though Solomon has been sleeping through the night for weeks now, I just long for a long, extra long, night of sleep. Someday soon, we'll leave Solomon with my parents for the night and get that nice long sleep.
I posted some pictures above that I've taken of Solomon (obviously) recently. He's got one red cheek.. I think it's b/c of his constant drooling. He's definitely getting his two front teeth so he's constantly drooling and chewing on anything and everything. His left thumb and index finger are getting chapped. I try to give him other things, but he just goes back to those. The video clip, at the bottom of this post, of him trying to crawl makes it seem like he's really mad. He usually doesn't get that mad but it's the one I happen to have on tape. I love watching the progression of skills.

I was listening to NPR today and they had a list that some guy (in fun) made up. It's called "Stuff White People Like" and it's pretty funny. You can check out his blog at: http://stuffwhitepeoplelike.wordpress.com/. One of his older posts states that white people like NPR. He's not being racist. He's just kind of making fun of specific group of white people. Everyone I know, including me, "likes" some of these things, so it's fun to laugh at yourself. They aren't necessarily bad things. What was also funny was that someone called in and said that "blogging" should be added to the list and the blogger guy said something like, "that will be added to the list of things that defines you as being self-important." Ha ha!!Check it out.

KU game tomorrow.. check that out too.

I'm off to Dallas on Thursday and Friday. My sore throat doesn't hurt too bad. I just feel a little hoarse.

Well, it's 10pm. I think I'll pump and go to bed soon.

It's been a while, Part II

Again, another week has passed since my last post. It's been very busy. We drove up to Lawrence and KC on Thursday. Our windshield was freezing up the entire time because of the sleet and super cold temperatures. I dropped Alex and Solomon off in Lawrence and then drove to Kansas City for some work meetings. Friday, I again had to meet with some people in Lawrence and KC. One of my meetings was with our KU sponsorship contact. The guy there gave me some free KU T-shirts and some KU crocs. I doubt I will wear the crocs out and about, but I always love KU gear and crocs are very comfy. I found out last year that they are so convenient to do outside work in b/c you can trudge through mud and rain and just wash them off. They will be perfect for gameday for sure!

Speaking of KU, they didn't do so well on Saturday, but hopefully we will get out of this temporary slump. They are still my fav team and still the best team. Of course, I'm waiting for all of the fair weather KU fans to start talking... They always do.. EVERY FREAKIN' YEAR. My favorite example was Bill Self's first year at KU. Okay, we had just lost Roy (dumbo) Williams so all of the players were trying to figure out how to play for a new guy. Plus, our top two players had just graduated and gone to the NBA (Hinrich and Collison). Yet, people expected that we would have just as good of a team the next year... As much as I love KU, some of my fellow fans exhaust me. They are ridiculous. Yeah, IF it just felt like I was talking about you... I probably was.. DEAL WITH IT! :)

Little Solomon got a lot of attention this weekend. He was passed from family member to family member at Alex's brother's house. I think our nephew, Sam, is one of his biggest fans. We had a homemade pizza party on Saturday for Alex's sister, Susan, and his brother's wife, Susan. Susan #2 made the pizzas and they were super yummy. In fact, we finished off the left over pieces she sent home with us yesterday for dinner. Thanks Susan! It was a nice surprise to find the pizza in the bag when we got home!! Solomon was a good boy and even slept through all three nights. He got up a little earlier than normal a couple of the days, but I would say that is pretty good considering he was in a new place and his pack n' play instead of his crib. Again, he was soooo sweet. My MIL, Elizabeth's b-day is this week as well, so we celebrated that. It's ALSO my cousin's Aaron's bday either today or tomorrow.

Also, I hung out with Erin on Friday night and we watched the train wreck of a movie, "The Day After." It is a made-for-TV movie from the 80's about what would happen if we were hit by a nuclear bomb. It is partly based in Lawrence. There are so many strange, sort of funny things that happen in it. Erin and I have always loved to watch painful movies and comment about how ridiculous they are throughout. It's a similar passion to the one I have about Days of Our Lives which by the way is still fantastic right now..... Thank goodness for the DVR.

We just watched "Lost". Why does Kate have the Australian girl's son?? No clue.. "No clue" pretty much sums up how we feel after every episode of that show, but we still like it.

I have a sore throat. I better not be getting sick. I am going to Dallas on Thursday and Friday for training and really don't want to be sick.

Alex is currently playing "Call of Duty" of course. He loves it... (sigh).

I am getting really tired, so I think I'll call it a night soon.
Welcome to Kelly's world!!!
