Zzzzzzzzss

Okay, Alex is "catching some Zzzzzs" as they say, as I type. We watched the KU game tonight. It was pretty uneventful, but good. Then, I gave Solomon a bath and put him to bed and packed for my trip tomorrow.
The other 'z' tonight is that I kept saying the word, 'Zipper', but more like, zzzzzzzzzzzzipur, and Solomon would laugh. He was staring at the zipper on my sweatshirt so I told him what it was and he was obviously intrigued.
Yesterday, I forgot to write about the tantrum I had last night. Alex got home late from work and I had been waiting to make dinner until he got home. We all know that I become a "not so nice" person when I'm hungry. Others who have this problem understand. Those who do not have a sudden drop in blood sugar will never understand the insanity that comes over one when they are SOOO hungry like that. Anyway, I had made salmon and this Asian salad that I really like. I finally got it all ready and all the way downstairs when I got sort of tangled up in our stupid TV trays that are seriously a death trap... (so many friends and family have spilled something as a result of them) and I dropped the salmon and salad all over the floor. I was so completely annoyed and started cussing and was almost in tears at the mess. Alex tried to joke, but I wouldn't have it. I ended up serving myself more of the salad and eating the tiny piece of salmon that didn't touch the ground and therefore wouldn't have dog hair or some other random particle on it.  Grrrr....
I'm going to go to bed soon to of course catch some Zzzzzs.  Good night..

Tired Tuesday

I'm beat for some reason. Even though Solomon has been sleeping through the night for weeks now, I just long for a long, extra long, night of sleep. Someday soon, we'll leave Solomon with my parents for the night and get that nice long sleep.
I posted some pictures above that I've taken of Solomon (obviously) recently. He's got one red cheek.. I think it's b/c of his constant drooling. He's definitely getting his two front teeth so he's constantly drooling and chewing on anything and everything. His left thumb and index finger are getting chapped. I try to give him other things, but he just goes back to those. The video clip, at the bottom of this post, of him trying to crawl makes it seem like he's really mad. He usually doesn't get that mad but it's the one I happen to have on tape. I love watching the progression of skills.

I was listening to NPR today and they had a list that some guy (in fun) made up. It's called "Stuff White People Like" and it's pretty funny. You can check out his blog at: http://stuffwhitepeoplelike.wordpress.com/. One of his older posts states that white people like NPR. He's not being racist. He's just kind of making fun of specific group of white people. Everyone I know, including me, "likes" some of these things, so it's fun to laugh at yourself. They aren't necessarily bad things. What was also funny was that someone called in and said that "blogging" should be added to the list and the blogger guy said something like, "that will be added to the list of things that defines you as being self-important." Ha ha!!Check it out.

KU game tomorrow.. check that out too.

I'm off to Dallas on Thursday and Friday. My sore throat doesn't hurt too bad. I just feel a little hoarse.

Well, it's 10pm. I think I'll pump and go to bed soon.

It's been a while, Part II

Again, another week has passed since my last post. It's been very busy. We drove up to Lawrence and KC on Thursday. Our windshield was freezing up the entire time because of the sleet and super cold temperatures. I dropped Alex and Solomon off in Lawrence and then drove to Kansas City for some work meetings. Friday, I again had to meet with some people in Lawrence and KC. One of my meetings was with our KU sponsorship contact. The guy there gave me some free KU T-shirts and some KU crocs. I doubt I will wear the crocs out and about, but I always love KU gear and crocs are very comfy. I found out last year that they are so convenient to do outside work in b/c you can trudge through mud and rain and just wash them off. They will be perfect for gameday for sure!

Speaking of KU, they didn't do so well on Saturday, but hopefully we will get out of this temporary slump. They are still my fav team and still the best team. Of course, I'm waiting for all of the fair weather KU fans to start talking... They always do.. EVERY FREAKIN' YEAR. My favorite example was Bill Self's first year at KU. Okay, we had just lost Roy (dumbo) Williams so all of the players were trying to figure out how to play for a new guy. Plus, our top two players had just graduated and gone to the NBA (Hinrich and Collison). Yet, people expected that we would have just as good of a team the next year... As much as I love KU, some of my fellow fans exhaust me. They are ridiculous. Yeah, IF it just felt like I was talking about you... I probably was.. DEAL WITH IT! :)

Little Solomon got a lot of attention this weekend. He was passed from family member to family member at Alex's brother's house. I think our nephew, Sam, is one of his biggest fans. We had a homemade pizza party on Saturday for Alex's sister, Susan, and his brother's wife, Susan. Susan #2 made the pizzas and they were super yummy. In fact, we finished off the left over pieces she sent home with us yesterday for dinner. Thanks Susan! It was a nice surprise to find the pizza in the bag when we got home!! Solomon was a good boy and even slept through all three nights. He got up a little earlier than normal a couple of the days, but I would say that is pretty good considering he was in a new place and his pack n' play instead of his crib. Again, he was soooo sweet. My MIL, Elizabeth's b-day is this week as well, so we celebrated that. It's ALSO my cousin's Aaron's bday either today or tomorrow.

Also, I hung out with Erin on Friday night and we watched the train wreck of a movie, "The Day After." It is a made-for-TV movie from the 80's about what would happen if we were hit by a nuclear bomb. It is partly based in Lawrence. There are so many strange, sort of funny things that happen in it. Erin and I have always loved to watch painful movies and comment about how ridiculous they are throughout. It's a similar passion to the one I have about Days of Our Lives which by the way is still fantastic right now..... Thank goodness for the DVR.

We just watched "Lost". Why does Kate have the Australian girl's son?? No clue.. "No clue" pretty much sums up how we feel after every episode of that show, but we still like it.

I have a sore throat. I better not be getting sick. I am going to Dallas on Thursday and Friday for training and really don't want to be sick.

Alex is currently playing "Call of Duty" of course. He loves it... (sigh).

I am getting really tired, so I think I'll call it a night soon.

Another busy week

It's been a long and busy week for sure. It was my first complete work-from-home week. I got a lot done and have already learned a lot. I was really busy all week, just trying to get organized and figure out exactly what I am doing.

Again, Solomon has been really fun all week. He's been rolling all over the place so I can no longer leave him alone on the changing table or even near the edge of the bed. It's cool to see how he's progressing though. I keep thinking he's going to crawl really soon. He gets on his stomach and has his head up and arms and legs in position and moves his legs but just doesn't quite go anywhere yet. I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

Book Club was on Wednesday. It was nice to see Amy and her baby, Natalie. She's really cute and smiled a lot for us. Solomon enjoyed playing on someone else's exersaucer I think. He's only a month older than Natalie so it will be neat to see how they progress. Alex picked him up after he got finished with work and took him home for a bath and put him to bed. One of my other friends, Jennifer, was also there. She is due in less than two weeks I think, so we all wished her luck.

Thursday was Valentine's Day. It was nice. I got Alex a Hines Ward football jersey that he seemed to like and a few other small things. He got me tickets to the Cirque du Soleil show that is coming to Wichita at the end of March. I saw one of CDS shows when I was in VEgas a few years ago and it was really neat. I'm sure this one will be cool too. Plus, it will give us a chance to go on a date, something that is hard after you have a kiddo around.

Alex's cousin was in town this weekend. He has been offered a job here in Wichita, so he was here for an interview and then the weekend to look around. Guess what his name is?? That's right, Alex. He's about the 4th or 5th Alex in my Alex's family. There are about four names that they just seem to recycle. It's funny. In fact, he would have had the same first and last name as my Alex, except for the fact that when his parents came to the U.S., the immigration people switched his dad's first and last names around. He never changed it back and has since then always used his first name as his last name. Therefore, his kids also have that as their last name. Strange huh?? It makes you wonder how badly names were botched by the U.S. Immigration people years and years ago when even more people were coming to America. The Thomases only came over in the 70's. Anyway, this Alex was really nice. He was really funny and we hope he moves here. He's smart and well-educated. Now, he just needs a woman... any interested parties out there?? :) We tried our best to show him the good parts of Wichita and to avoid the not so fantastic aspects. The funniest thing happened though... We went to this bar that is usually too hip for us called The Shadow. They had this ridiculous cover band playing and the singer was this big fat guy wearing one of those shimmery club-type of shirts that hasn't been in style since maybe 2001 if you were that kind of guy who would even wear one. Then, to make it even better, there was this bizarre guy, dressed in a cowboy get-up. He was using all of these crazy dance moves with a complete lack of rhythm. Good thing (cousin) Alex has a great sense of humor. It was almost more fun to me than seeing a good band play. Of course, I've always loved a train wreck.

Days of Our Lives was awesome this week... some of the best ever for me. They were all on a plane that was having problems and all of them almost died. They tried to do a "24" type of thing with the clock on the screen. Days of Our Lives and 24 have production values that are so polar opposite... so of course any attempt that DOOL makes to be high tech or realistic is so ridiculous that it's fantastic to me. The over acting was even better.... Ahh... DOOL is a drug to me.

Mom and I went shopping today. Target and BabiesRUs.. We bought a bunch of stuff we needed.

I'm kind of excited because "Dexter" is on CBS now. It was on Showtime last summer. We caught it towards the end of the season and liked it. It's scary and demented but good. I think they are starting from the beginning on CBS though so we will have to rewatch some of what we've already seen.

I have tomorrow off for President's Day! I can't wait to get some cleaning done. How pathetic is that?
Alex took the pictures above of Solomon! They are so sweet.

It's been a while...

I haven't posted in more than a week. Basically, I was in Las Vegas for work Monday through Thursday. Friday and yesterday I was in catch-up mode. Vegas was fun. None of the flights were delayed despite it being mid-Winter, but it was also hard for me. It was my first time away from Solomon over night. That was sad for me, but it went fast. We went out to dinner all three nights and had a lot of good food and I actually drank a lot too.
I had to pump the whole time I was there, but it worked out well. I came back with a lot
of milk, so it pretty much replenished the frozen supply that Alex had to use while I was gone. It was kind of weird, especially in the Las Vegas airport, to have to tell every security person (in the extra long LV security line) that the liquid in the cooler bag I had was breast milk. I'm sure that's not the usual liquid they deal with there. Anyway, Alex did a great job the whole time I was gone. Solomon slept through the night all three nights I was gone and has done so since I got back! Let's hope that continues!!!
Solomon is doing some other new things.. He can now sit up for short amounts of time. He can roll from back to tummy now. It's so cute... I'll go into his room to get him in the mornings and there is... schooched all the way to the other end of his crib, totally out of his triangle thingy and on his side with his thumb in his mouth. He loves his thumb now. He also loves his exersaucer. He spins all the way around in it now and chews on everything very aggressively. He's obviously teething at this point. His voice also sounds different now. It's more of a high-pitched squeel. He also blows air puffs out a lot. Maybe that doesn't make sense, but that's the only way I can describe it and it seems like he wants to say something a lot more than he did even a few weeks ago. It's a fun time. He constantly giggles and loves to be tickled under his arms. It's so cute!
Yesterday, Alex had several photo shoots for work, so he had all of his photography stuff set-up already. We decided it was a great opportunity to take some photos of our little guy as well. We dressed him up in a few outfits and took some shots. They are all pretty cute, but one of the outfits/shots is absolutely adorable. Stay tuned.. I'm sure I will post it soon.
Alex and I went to Kandi's and Jimmy's joint birthday party yesterday. It was at a bar. We watched the KU game and left. It was fun to see some of her friends though, but I did have to leave a little bit early to go get Solomon. My mom and dad kept him for a few hours. I think we might let them keep him overnight on Valentine's Day for a little test run.
Alex is playing his XBox 360 right now. He is in love with it and plays it constantly. I'm hoping the new wears off of it and he just plays it once a week or something soon because it's loud and annoying. He gets online with some of his friends and they yell at each other and crack up laughing when they kill each other... Ha ha ha.. I'm laughing so hard I can hardly stand it. I guess I'm a typical girl when it comes to video games.. don't care much for them. Alex, who loves anything involving technology, is just the opposite. He is always playing "Call of Duty 4," some type of millitary game where they run around as soldiers and shoot/stab each other with various weaponry. Sounds fun.. huh? :( I will say that he always gets his money's worth out of these gaming systems because he'll spend $50 on a game and play it for hours and hours and hours vs. a board game that gets played once a year in our house.
Moving on... today I bought a printer, phone and filing cabinet for my office. I will need to remember to turn in those expenses tomorrow. I still need to get a desk chair.
I finished my book club book on the plane back from Vegas.. seriously Middlesex is one of the best books I've ever read.. FANTASTIC! Read it. Our book club was postponed due to weather to this week.
So what's everyone doing for Valentine's Day? Anything special? I bought Alex something kind of fun, but won't say what in case he reads this.

The weekend!!

Before I forget, I've posted a few new Solomon pics online: http://www.haverhillstudios.com/gallery/albun04.

I've completed my first two "work from home" days. So far it's been nice. Mostly, I've just organized things and learned a little bit more about what I'll be doing. I'm in charge of 11 different markets, all in the Mid-West.

Wednesday night was a little disappointing of course because K-State beat us, but it didn't hit me too hard. We played like crap and they hit almost every three pointer they threw up. Plus, we need to lose before the NCAA tournament and this was a good stinging loss to bring us back to reality. Also, I had to laugh when the K-State fans stormed the court. It's another miserable example of how desperate they are to be KU! Ha... it took them 24 years to beat us on their HOME COURT! Like my BFF, Erin said, "You would have thought they had won the NCAA tournament!" P-A-T-H-E-T-I-C!

It's been a nice weekend so far. Last night, Alex and I ate dinner with my parents and played with Solomon. Alex and I went to the gym. It was funny but almost not funny... As we were leaving, I backed the car out of the garage. Alex had Solomon in the carseat. He was approaching the passenger side to put the carseat in and wiped out! I ran out of the car to make sure they were okay and just as I said, "Are you okay?!", I also wiped out! Then, we sat on the ground laughing for a few minutes. We were all okay.

I'm gearing up to watch the KU game this afternoon and get a few other things done. We are having a few people over for the Superbowl and I'm going to Vegas for work next week so I need to get ready for that. I'm sure KU will be out for blood today! Go KU.

Have a nice weekend!
Welcome to Kelly's world!!!
