Memorial Day Weekend

Alex's dad and stepmom came for a visit last weekend. Solomon even gave him a hug when he left!Just a cute facial expression...
I'm sure Solomon was saying, "Whasss tha...?" as he was pointing at the garage door. He IS ALWAYS saying that.
A little screaming contest between Solomon and daddy.
Alex reading a story to Solomon.
We are having a good Memorial Day weekend, despite the fact that Alex has had to work for most of it. We had a BBQ for some friends last night. My parents also had a garage sale on Thursday-Saturday. I made about $140 which was pretty good, considering I didn't have much in the sale!

Hello-Lo

Solomon has started to say "hello" a lot and sometimes it comes out hello-lo-lo... like a very quick echo sort of. He loves to greet everyone, especially in public places.. over and over again. I think some people aren't sure what to say after he's told them "Hiiii!" 50x. Anyway, his love for greeting and opening and closing doors is on the following video. I don't think he uses "Hello" in this one, but does say "see ya".

Raising a Reader picture

I forgot to add this before. It's so funny. Solomon is 2nd from the right. They have a program through his daycare and the YMCA called Raising a Reader. They send new books home with you each week to read to your child and you bring them back the following week. He "graduated" from this program this week. He's pictured with all of his classmates.

Friday is HERE!!

I was in Phoenix Sunday through Tuesday, so I feel like I've just been catching up the last few days with work and the rest of my life. I really missed Solomon and Alex, but I must admit it was nice to not have to pick up after anyone or feed anyone for a few days. The weather was hot during the day but perfect at night. I also got to hang out one night with my friend of KSN, Jason. That was so much fun. We always have such a good time chatting. Roy Williams was staying at our hotel with a bunch of friends. All of these people kept telling me they had spotted him as if I was supposed to be impressed. They forget I kicked him to the curb in my mind, the minute he left for UNC. We got our revenge last year, so I no longer dislike him, I'm just not in awe of him any longer.

Solomon has been so cute since I got back. He has continued to throw tantrums, but mostly in the evening when he's super tired, so that's okay.

We played around this morning. This is just a short little video of him in one of his new rompers from Grandma L. I think it's so cute. He's not really doing anything in particular but being his crazy self.

It was so weird last night... I woke up to a thunderstorm around 4am and looked outside and I SWEAR it looked like a news video of a hurricane. I was convinced we were in a tornado for a minute. I turned on the TV and it wasn't a tornado, just a thunderstorm, but they showed a windspeed of 60 mph at one of the weather lab check points right by our house. I guess that's why it looked so crazy outside.
I hope everyone has a fabulous Mother's Day. All the moms that I know of who read my blog are great moms, so you all deserve a nice day off. I told Alex that I just wanted the three of us to go pick out flowers/veggies for my garden and for him to watch Solomon while I plant it all. I like gardening, but it does take time.

Testing His Limits

The last few weeks have been all about Solomon testing his climbing skills. I will leave the room (for literally seconds) only to find him on the dining room table, a chair or an end table, smiling at me, when I return. The first video is one of him running around on the couch. He loves to stand at the end and act as if he's going to jump. Yes, we do find it frightening!

Solomon, Alex and I all took advantage of the great weather last week and turned on a sprinkler for Solomon to run around in. I think water was still a little too cold for him, but he did seem to enjoy his swim trunks and sunglasses (at least for as long as he would keep the glasses on). Of course, the sunglasses were courtesy of Grandma L. My sister and I, along with our spouses, always have to have the latest in fashionable sunwear, so why should Solomon be any different?
Alex has been super busy with work as usual. He's going to begin designing yet another local magazine, along with the bar and his web design & IT work, so hopefully we will see him from time to time at least!
I have a work trip coming up next week so things are getting crazy again for me as well.
We had a SUPER TON of rain on Sunday night into Monday morning and our sump pump decided to die halfway through the night. Luckily, Alex was working late into the night, as he often does, and noticed the pump wasn't working. We called a 24/7 plumber and they installed a new one. Had Alex not noticed, our basement would have likely flooded! There's always something crazy happening.
My friend, Cherie was in town this past weekend. We got to catch up a bit on Friday night over drinks. It never seems like there's enough time, but it was great to see her and our friend, Nora Lee as well.
Solomon has a huge rash/big red spot on the outside of his right hip/butt. I called the doctor and they didn't think we needed to worry yet. Who knows what it is? Very strange stuff happens to these little people!

He's Tickled at the moment anyway

The following video shows me tickling Solomon, which like every other child, he loves. It's cute. However, he is into temper tantrums lately and picking favorites. I can usually get him to "reset" from a temper tantrum by putting him in his crib for a couple of minutes. Then, he's like a new kid. One day, he'll only want "mama" and the next day only "daddy", so you never know. He's so cute though that he's easy to forgive. Everywhere we go, people tell me how cute he is and how sweet his hair is. That's kind of fun. One other thing that Solomon is really into is taking your hand and hugging it and just hugging in general. He used to do that more and then stopped doing it for a while. Now, he's doing it again.

It was such a great morning today that Solomon and I went on a run with the jogging stroller. He really seems to love that unless of course he's hungry or something. What do kids really enjoy though when they're hungry or really tired?

I don't have much planned for the weekend besides dropping off the recycling. I can't wait to get it out of our garage.

Easter & Zoe's Birthday!

My mom kind of makes it a point to go a little crazy with the presentation of the Easter baskets to the grandchildren. As you can see Solomon's "Easter Basket" was a small turtle shaped baby pool full of clothing, books, toys, and food. The cow thing is fun b/c he can sit on it. Although, so far I like it better than he does. I'm sure that will change though. I can't wait until the weather warms up enough to use the pool. Below is Zoe in her veterinarian costume. It was in her Easter basket. She was checking the health status of her various animals all day. Thank goodness they all checked out fine.
Alex took a little Easter nap.. He had a late night on Saturday and got up early for church.
One of the random things in both Zoe's and Solomon's Easter Baskets, a bat and ball shaped like a carrot.

Solomon just took a seat in the refrigerator for some reason.

The full Easter ensemble, minus the shoes.. they were "somewhere". The day concluded with Zoe's 6th birthday. Here she is blowing out some candles on her Camp Rock cake. Pretty sweet.Solomon had a few bites.
The Fur Real dog was the hit of the gifts for Zoe. She loves dogs. It's a little creepy b/c it moves on it's own.
